Department of Economics

Preface

The Department of Economics at North Western University (NWU), Khulna offers 3 programs. These are 4 (four)-Year Bachelor (Hons) in Economics Program, 2 (Year) Master in Economics Program and 1 (Year) Master in Economics graduate program are offered.

The common grading scale is followed as provided by University Grants Commission (UGC). This curriculum incorporates elements of emerging knowledge and learning of economic-based studies keeping in view the curricula of the Department of Economics of the renowned public universities of the country and also a number of foreign universities. The structure and plan of this curriculum are designed in compliance with the guidelines of UGC and on the basis of Outcome-Based Education (OBE). Dynamism has been introduced in the curriculum in order to ensure economics education of international standard. The ultimate aim of the department is to impart to students up-to-date literary, theoretically critical insights, inquisitiveness in research, and proficiency in economic-based education.

To enhance the creativity of students, the department arranges various curricular activities like Seminars, Workshops, Industrial Tours, Case Studies, Presentations, and Text-based Video Clips. The curriculum is based on the course credit system.

Strong emphasis is given on the relevant basic courses which will help the students interact confidently with the people across the globe. This curriculum is subject to updating from time to time in order to keep pace with the modern trends of Economics studies.
